Litmaps builds visualisation and search tools for scientists and researchers. Our mission is to accelerate impactful science: We believe we can improve outcomes for the world by improving the rate of breakthroughs and new technologies by scientists and engineers. To do this we’re building a modern research platform that’s intuitive, concise, collaborative, and promotes the accessibility of knowledge.

What you’ll be working on

We need someone to architect and own the data pipelines that power our literature-mapping platform. You’ll design and scale robust workflows that ingest millions of scholarly records and citation graphs, then transform them into well-modelled datasets ready for AI. Working closely with ML, product, and search focussed team mates, you’ll implement vector-embedding pipelines, retrieval-augmented search, and other LLM-driven techniques that surface the right papers in milliseconds. Your toolkit will include Python, SQL, Databricks, and experiment with frameworks to test new search ideas. Beyond hands-on coding, you’ll set engineering standards, mentor teammates, and guide technology choices that keep Litmaps reliable, fast, and poised to scale our mission.

Think you’d be a good fit for the role and for our team? Excited to use your skills to accelerate scientific progress?

We don’t use any automated systems in screening and are not professional recruiters, so feel free to be candid and casual in your application. Please include a CV and cover letter (in PDF format) in your application telling us about awesome projects you’ve worked on and why you’d be a great fit for this role!

Note: At Litmaps we are always looking to hire the best talent and recognise that diversity in our experiences and backgrounds makes us stronger. We hire candidates of any race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital or family status, disability, and any other status. To reduce unconscious bias in our recruitment we will redact names, gender, age, and any other information which may prime us from your application prior to first pass consideration.
